Trainings for the Ghanaian Recycler’s Association PRAAG
In 2021 we supported the Ghanaian Recyclers Association PRAAG (Plastics Recyclers and Aggregators Association) digitally and contributed our many years of expertise in the development of training courses. The training courses were developed as part of an association cooperation between the German Recycling Technologies and Waste Management Partnership e.V. (RETech) and PRAAG in Ghana.
We contributed our recycling expertise to the development of the curriculum and training materials. Other experts from RETech member companies helped to develop and conduct the training courses. A wide variety of topics from the circular economy were prepared for the training courses, including the identification of different types of plastics, but also the improvement of occupational safety. Furthermore, the participants were taught how to optimize operational processes and how to scale their own business activities in order to be able to guarantee the best possible flow of activities in the future.
The trainings took place in three phases. The first phase started in May 2021 with the online training of Ghanaian trainers. At the beginning of June, a four-day online pilot training followed, in which our trainers were connected via video conference and the newly qualified trainers acted on site. Another four-day pilot training followed at the end of August 2021 in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
The aim was to support PRAAG in becoming a major player in the Ghanaian waste and recycling sector in the long term. This was done by implementing a sustainable business model and by strengthening the organization.
